Swargtara was  formed in August 2012 by Puneet Bhatt to revive traditional Kumaoni songs and create awareness of various genres of Kumaoni music and provide a platform for local musicians. It was later joined by Ashhar Farooqui and Vinny Bhagat. Their stylistic approach will introduce Kumaoni culture through music accompanied by visuals to give the audience an authentic experience of Kumaon.
